BIO AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Trained as a professional athlete and a martial artist, Clayton White's journey into the art world commenced in his late 20s, a pivotal time during which he embraced his role as a professional art model at renowned institutions in Southern California. His experiences at prestigious locations such as Pasadena’s Art Center, Cal Arts, and Otis College, along with his exposure to the Los Angeles animation studio industries, provided him with a robust foundation for understanding artistic expression.

Although White's paintings are often categorized within abstract expressionism, his creative process is distinctly methodical. He emphasizes the importance of anatomical and kinetic expression in his work. This approach allows him to transform dynamic human movements into visual narratives on canvas.

Ultimately, Clayton White's art embodies a unique blend of emotional depth and technical precision, reflecting both his background as an athlete and his evolution as a serious artist. Each piece serves as a testament to the intersection of form and movement, defining his personal narrative within the realm of abstract expressionism.

Clayton White's years of dedication to his craft are evident in the captivating nature of his large-scale paintings, exhibited at the Ojai Art Center and the Santa Paula Museum of Art. His work not only attracts attention from fellow artists but also resonate deeply with art enthusiasts who seek authenticity and depth in contemporary art.

Residing in Ojai, White continues to demonstrate remarkable productivity within his genre. His commitment to creating “one of a kind” pieces underscores his unique artistic vision, often drawing inspiration from his personal experiences that infuse his work with meaning and emotion.

The athletic prowess reflected in his technique showcases his exceptional skill, while his endurance in the creative process ensures that each piece is an authentic reflection of his journey as an artist.

Clayton White says of his technique:
"The whole purpose of action painting is putting together a body of work and observe how that process is shaping and changing you: then we’ll see what that artist is made of. I get my muscles worked, my body tightened and my mind renewed on a daily basis when I paint. Action painting is all about the paint stroke. This is what Jackson Pollock means when he says that each painting is an art performance unto itself".

Clayton is represented by Elizabeth Gordon Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA. He also collaborates with art lending companies in Los Angeles.
